Three pieces most kitchens use every day, in one box: a 1.5 quart saucepan for grains and sauces, a 4.5 quart stewpot for soups and braises, and a 10 inch frying pan. The saucepan and stewpot each come with a glass lid, so that's five pieces in all. Made in France, with no coating to wear off.
Every pot and pan is brushed 18/10 stainless steel on a three-layer base: induction stainless outside, aluminum in the middle, 18/10 stainless inside. The aluminum is sealed in the base.
The handles are solid stainless steel on a double row of stainless rivets. The lids are borosilicate glass with stainless knobs. The pans go in the oven up to 550 F, and up to 400 F with a lid on. They work on induction, gas, electric, halogen and ceramic, they can go in the dishwasher, and the tapered shapes nest for storage.
Switching from nonstick? Your first week with a stainless pan walks you through it, one meal a day.
Made in France. Cristel's lifetime guarantee covers the stainless pieces against manufacturing defects, and its limited warranty on the lids runs 10 years.
In the box: 1.5 quart saucepan, 6 in across, with glass lid. 4.5 quart stewpot, 9.5 in across, with glass lid. 10 in frying pan.
Want the whole kitchen? The 8-piece set adds a 3 quart saucepan with its lid and an 8 inch frying pan. Choosing between 1826 and Castel'Pro? Our side-by-side guide compares the two.
