What we did not stock, and why

Here's what we looked at and passed on, and why. This is the first edition. A product on this list is not one we say is harmful. Most are here because we couldn't get the documentation we publish for everything we sell, or because they didn't fit the store.

  • Nonstick cookware whose maker doesn't publish what the coating is. We name every coating on our pages, so we couldn't list these.
  • Several ceramic mugs and brewers. The makers don't publish a lead and cadmium test report, and we need one on file before we sell any ceramic.
  • A popular stainless French press with a PTFE-coated interior. It's a fine product. But the coating goes against what most people expect from a stainless press, and the maker's own site only mentions it in the specifications.
  • Glass storage sets from large manufacturers. They publish no material or origin documentation for retailers. That's a gap in the paperwork, not a judgment on the product.
  • Products sold only through marketplaces or resellers. There was no relationship with the maker, so we couldn't get documentation or warranty support.
